If you require a surplus seat for travel to any school in the Dorset Council area not listed above, please see the Dorset Council website for details of how to apply.

Please note:

  • Details of current routes and timetables for the schools above can be viewed here. Some routes may vary from September 2024 in response to any changes in entitled student requirements. However if that happens we will automatically re-assign any affected surplus seat applications to the most suitable updated route, so there is no need to contact us again if after applying you become aware that routes in your area are changing.
  • You should only apply for a surplus seat if your child is a non-entitled student. If you believe that your child is actually an entitled student you will need to apply to Dorset Council. Details of qualifying criteria and an online application form can be found here.
  • We will contact surplus seat applicants by email nearer the time regarding availability, pricing and purchasing arrangements. There is no obligation to make a purchase.
  • Unfortunately there is no guarantee of transport for non-entitled students and submitting a surplus seat application does not guarantee that a pass will be available to purchase. Our obligation is to provide transport for all statutorily entitled students, and only once this has been ensured can we consider surplus seat applicants. We will try our best to offer passes to as many applicants as we possibly can, and we are usually able to accommodate the very large majority of those applying.
  • In the event that not all applicants can be accommodated for a particular route(s) we will usually prioritse on a first come first served basis by date of application. However we reserve the right to occasionally use other criteria instead (for example to prioritise a student who has no public transport available from their location over one who does have a public transport alternative).
