We take pride in supporting local community organisations and this week we are reinforcing that by partnering up with Fortuneswell Brownies in Portland.
We are donating £500 towards the 1st Weston and 2nd Weston packs, to be put towards an annual activities trip.
Brownies welcomes girls from seven to 10 years old for fun, learning and adventure. They follow a programme of skill-building activities, supported by trained volunteers who give up their time for free.
“Although we are two separate packs, we take part in many activities together - such as our annual Pack Holiday, said Kerry Humphry, Fortuneswell Brownies unit assistant.
“We try, where possible, to subsidise costs. However, some of our parents are still unable to afford to send their children on trips and activities. With Portland classed as being an area of high deprivation, we feel it is important to support these girls and give them an opportunity to experience Pack Holiday.
“We got in touch with Damory, through its community fund, and we were delighted to receive a donation. It will make a huge difference for some of our Brownies - so we’re extremely grateful.”
Our operations manager, Paul Knight, added: “This is an incredibly worthy cause, and an important local resource.
“We are always keen to build strong relationships with those living within the areas in which we operate.
“Helping these young Brownies experience their Pack Holiday, and the opportunity to learn new skills, is an absolute pleasure.”
Our Community Fund is open to applicants in February and August - if you know of, or are part of a local cause, community group, sports team or charity and need some extra support, apply for the next round today here.
